Single ply membranes
Single ply membranes are strong, flexible sheets composed predominately of synthetic polymer. They are sealed at joints to form continuous waterproofing. When combined with insulation and continuous support they form complete, durable roof systems.
All single polymeric materials offered by SPRA members are resistant to weathering, chemical oxidation and UV radiation. They require no additional surface protection unless used for access. Careful formulation ensures that physical properties are retained over a temperature range exceeding -30 to +80 degrees centigrade to suit the variable climate typical of the United Kingdom.
Single ply offers maximum freedom of choice in roof design, performance and appearance to suit new construction and refurbishment.
Composite Panel Roofing & Cladding
Composite panels may be used for walls and roofs. In each case the composite cladding panels are composed of bonded layers of metal and insulation. A factory produced panel which eliminates the need for separate components and can speed up installation on site.
Roof panels are available in a wide choice of outer profiles ranging from the traditional, cost effective trapezoidal panel through to secret fix and standing seam profiles such as Kingspan's KingZip. Helix has completed a number of projects featuring the increasingly specified Kingspan Roof Tile products which provides the appearance of traditional clay tiles.
A recent development in composite panel technology has lead to the introduction of single ply membrane face composite panels such as the Ward Topdeck system which has proved highly successful for Helix Industrial Roofing as it requires the unique blend of skill afforded by a company that employs both cladding and single ply installation personnel.
Wall systems are available to suit all budgets from the trapezoidal profile suited to industrial and "rear of house" applications to the wide variety of architectural profiles such as the popular micro rib finish popular with many commercial and retail developers.
Built Up Roofing & Cladding
Available in steel and aluminium in a pallet of colours and finishes, built up systems can provide value for money solutions to providing an insulated, weather proof building envelope. These systems also prove highly successful in the refurbishment market where the outer skins can be used to over clad tired industrial building facades to give them a facelift and bring them into the 21st Century.
The Ellis Ashton Street project featured on our web site illustrates the use of such systems. The asbestos cement roof was removed and replaced with an insulated built up roof system while the ugly, scarred masonry walls were overclad as described above.
Rainscreen Cladding Systems
This method of providing an attractive weatherproof façade in front of the structural wall or stud system has increased in popularity. Helix Industrial Roofing has completed a number of projects using a variety of systems including terracotta tiles and panel systems such as Trespa and Rock Panel (Rockclad)
Standing Seam & Secret Fix Roofing
Standing seam roof systems offer maximum design flexibility, being available in various materials and cover widths and in straight, tapered and curved sheet formats. The introduction of site manufacturing has removed the restrictions on maximum sheet lengths previously dictated by road transport capabilities.
These roof systems are uniquely engineered to account for thermal movement and provide excellent weather tightness through the secret fix methods which eliminate the need for penetrative fixings through the outer, weathering skin.
Due to their proven track record and longevity, standing seam systems are often utilised in public sector projects such as education, health and sports and leisure developments. Helix Industrial Roofing has an impressive portfolio of such projects.
Liquid applied coatings
Liquid applied systems are based on two high performance polyurethane coatings - Decothane EC and Decothane SP. All use atmospheric moisture to trigger the curing process and, unlike conventional polyurethane systems, can cure under ponded water without gassing or foaming.
Similarly, they rapidly become resistant to rain damage and may therefore be applied in relatively poor weather without any subsequent loss of performance or durability. The four standard Decothane roofing systems listed below are certified by the British Board of Agrément, the Government's test body for the construction industry. Decothane EC is an embedment coat used in the Decothane Beta 10 and Omega 15 systems and like Decothane SP, it enables rapid "wetting out" of the reinforcement matting, thereby making it easy to mould around upstands and other detail. Decothane SP is a tough, UV stable top coat which is available in a variety of colours.
Slating and Tiling
We carry out limited Slating and Tiling as part of an envelope package.
Cappings, Fascias & Soffits
Coloured metal ancillary products such as parapet cappings, bullnose fascias and plank effect soffit systems provide an aesthetically pleasing, low maintenance finish to buildings regardless of the roof system employed. Helix Industrial Roofing uses both standard and bespoke products to satisfy the designers' requirements for these highly visible finishing touches.
Mansafe systems, Ladders, Permanent edge protections, Guttering
We can deliver these products as part of an envelope package.
